June Fun

June has been a very exciting month. I finished my 8th year of teaching and packed up my classroom for more than just the summer. I am blessed to have the opportunity to stay at home with Koa and take care of my family full time. Katie went home to Ohio for the summer and Brian, Ashley, and Oakley are staying with us during their transition period. We are so excited that they are moving down here--we have already shared quite a few adventures together! We have taken the boys to the beach, to the mall play area on rainy days, to story time at the local library, to the pool, to the springs, to splash concerts, to Bayshore for sunrise runs, and to the backyard where we splash around in our "pool."

First Rainy Day Trip to the Mall Playground

Koa is starting to perfect this walkng thing, so thought it would be fun to go to the mall for some play time on a rainy day. He really seemed to enjoy it!

Ninja Koa

As I was doing laundry, Koa decided to take the plastic hangers and become a ninja. Let's just say, Kimo was a good sport for the two seconds it took me to get to Koa and remove the weapons from his hands!

True Couponing

I have become a "true couponer." (I'm sure my friends and family are tired of hearing how much I save each week at the grocery store.) Basically, I use coupons to buy the items that are "buy one, get one free" at the store that week. I buy enough to last 12 weeks (apparently items go on sale in a 12 week cycle) and stockpile. I think I ended up paying 100 bucks for all of that...and Koa loves shopping in his car! Oh, and that IS Joey...not a cardboard cut out add for dog food as one of our friends pointed out!

The Almost Kaleikini Cat

So, Joey was cutting the grass and saw a little critter running along the fence. He called me out and I was able to watch the hilarious sight of Joey chasing after a tiny kitten! He chased her around the backyard for a couple of minutes before he caught it. We gave her some water and tuna and played with her on the screened lanai (Katie was very distraught that she was in Ohio and missed the excitement). After observing her for a couple of minutes, we decided she needed to be seen by a vet--she was very skinny and favored her paw. I hope a nice family was able to adopt her--she was a real cutie!

Watermelon Treat

Koa enjoyed some watermelon before going taking a dip in the pool. I love these pictures with the huge piece of watermelon--we just let him go at it! I also took pictures of the plumeria flowers that are blooming. Koa was nice enough to mow the grass after his watermelon treat.

Oak and Koa

We were so excited when Brian, Ashley, and Oakley got here! I love watching Oakley and Koa play together. Here they are at Bayshore Drive when Ashley and I took them for a run. They are great running partners (so is Ashley)!!

Koa and Oakley were playing together while we made dinner. It was quiet, so we decided to peek around he corner and this is what we found:

Spaghetti Night

The pictures say it all!

I don't remember where we went or what we were doing, but this is one of the many blackmail pictures I am stockpiling. Note the bed head, onsie, and shoe-socks!

Good-Bye Classroom

I really enjoyed teaching part time this year. I am so glad my job share partner, Deb, and I were able to work it out. She worked the mornings and I worked the afternoons. It was the perfect set up with Katie babysitting Koa while I was at work for four hours each day. I have to admit, it was a weird feeling locking the door and walking out knowing I will not be returning in the fall. I know I will be back after a few years, and I am so excited to stay home with Koa next year!

Fishhawk Fun Fridays

We celebrated the last day of school by taking the boys to Fishhawk (a local community) where they had a concert and a spray ground for the kids to play in. Koa and Oakley loved it! In fact, we went back the very next week so they could enjoy it again (and to celebrate Brian's birthday)!

Lithia Springs

Koa loved walking all over in the cool, shallow water.
Pool Time

Beach Time

Koa and Oakley (and the rest of us) really enjoy our beach days. We stayed for quite some time--long enough for Koa to play, take a stroller nap, and then play some more! (As previously mentioned, this is where I am looking for the Circus Elephant to appear and carry our gear to and from our car.)

Koa Sleeping

I went in to wake Koa (yes, sometimes you have to wake a sleeping baby) and he had fallen asleep with his legs crossed and his body folded in half...how do babies sleep like this?!

Dog Park

Kimo and Naia enjoyed an afternoon at the dog park. Kimo was very adventurous and decided to be a swimmer. Usually, Naia is the swimmer (funny, since her name means "dolphin"). But, today, Kimo was the one to swim out and retrieve toys!
More Blackmail Pictures (No explanation needed.)

Father's Day

Koa is so blessed to have such a great dad (and I am blessed to have such a great husband). Joey definitely co-parents and does a great job...changing diapers, making snacks, bath time, putting Koa to bed...he shares all of the parenting responsibilities. And I have to give him credit for being the chef of the house! We celebated Father's Day by giving Joey his birdfeeder and birdwatching book. Koa put his hand print on the bottom of the birdfeeder. He also made the wrapping paper by painting brown paper bags.

Koa's Baptism

Koa was baptized on Father's Day by Pastor Rob Harding on his last Sunday at our church. We have truely been blessed by his messages each Sunday and can say that he has had a great influence in our lives as we have started our lives together and our family. Pastor Rob even came to visit at the hospital when Koa was born and prayed with us then. We are so thankful for the time he has been at our church. So, we thought it was only fitting that he be the one to baptize Koa before he leaves. Unfortunately, there was not a lot of advance notice, so this was a little on the last minute side! PS I absolutely love Oakley's smile in these pictures! :)

Peek-a-Boo

As we wait in line at the grocery store, I like to sing songs and play games with Koa. Here we are playing "peek-a-boo" and he consistantly covered his ears instead of his eyes. It was so cute because he was so confident in his game! One week later, we played again and you can see that he has figured it out! :)

Another Sunrise Run

I had to include pictures from another gorgeous Bayshore run since we were able to get watch the dolphins for a while. I tried to capture them in a picture, but dolphins are hard to photograph! There was a mom and baby dolphin jumping out of the water as the sun was rising. Koa took his "running nap" as always.
Kimo and Koa Kimo is famous for his "yoga" pose that he likes to do. Koa was very interested in his lips that were hanging upside down and decided to give Kimo a hug.

Oakley Turns Two!

We celebrated Oakley's birthday at the end of the month. He enjoyed breakfast in bed, opened his presents, and we went bowling (the stormy weather kept us from going to the beach). He really enjoyed bowling (and beat me), but Koa is still a little young to enjoy it--plus, he is cutting his molars right now, so he is a little cranky.

Pool Time

We were able to squeeze in 30 minutes of pool time before the afternoon storms rolled in. We rushed to the car and Koa rode home in his swim trunks and monster towel. When we got home I looked in his mouth and found his top molars coming through. Tooth count: 10!

Sweet Moment

Joey was about to put Koa to bed when he RAN to his room. After a couple of moments, he comes RUNNING back out, huffing and puffing, and carrying his Jonah book. He held it up to Daddy, so Joey read him his Jonah book. It is so sweet to see his little wheels turning!

Koa Swimming We enjoy spending time with our friends, Scott, Becky, and Gaine. We were at their pool and the boys started playing a fun game where they fall off of the side of the pool into our hands. I decided to eventually let Koa's head go under water since he was really enjoying this game. All three boys were going under the water by the end of the evening! We had a blast!
