Christmas 2010

Joey, Koa and I started our Christmas adventure early Friday morning. We flew from Tampa to Atlanta and Koa slept almost the entire way. The next leg of the trip was a long one...10 hours from Atlanta to Honolulu, Hawaii. We were very impressed with Koa as he is also working on getting three new teeth all at once. He ate two baby food meals and three bottles during our trip. We packed an entire carry on of toys--half of which we pulled out for him to play with. We took a few laps around the plane to calm him down when he was tired of sitting in our laps and he took a few naps along the way as well. Opening presents with everyone... Eating breakfast Playing with my new toys... I love my new toy car and chase it all over with my army crawl. Sometimes all that crawling after eating makes me spit up! Yuck!

So, now that I have 5 teeth and three more coming in, Mom and Dad say I need to start brushing my teeth. Here are pictures from my first tooth-brushing experience.



We really enjoyed our time in Hawaii visiting with Joey's family. We were able to take Koa to the top of two mountains: Diamond Head and Makapuu (where we got engaged almost three years ago). We visited the Bishop Museum and enjoy some beach time. I will add pictures once I get them--we left them on Grandpa's computer!

Merry Christmas--2010 Family Update

What a wonderful year 2010 has been for the Kaleikini family! There have been many great changes this year with the greatest of those being the addition of our son, Koa--he is the best present we could ever receive. I have really enjoyed watching Joey become such an amazing father. Koa is such a laid back little guy who is quick to give out smiles!



I have gone back to work part time teaching 7th grade math in the afternoons. We are blessed to have my sister living with us and watching Koa when I am at work--she is a great Auntie-Nanny!




Our dogs, Kimo and Naia, are enjoying our long walks in the mornings. They absolutely love Koa and are so gentle with him.



Joey stays busy with his job at the Sheriff's Office. He is working with a specialized unit now, Street Crimes, and is also a member of the underwater rescue team (dive team) and helps out with the training division. When he isn't working, he enjoys playing on his tournament softball team.

We have done some traveling this year: Ohio for graduations and Thanksgiving (also known as Thanksmas this year), a few different softball tournaments, Miami to visit Joey during his two week dive team training, and we are going to Hawaii to visit Joey's Dad and his family for Christmas.

Road Trip Thanksgiving 2010

This year we decided to drive to Ohio with Koa and our two dogs. We made the trip up in two days and stayed at the Ruiz house in Atlanta. They were so welcoming to all five of us! :) Thanks, guys! We made it in time to watch the FSU game and cheer them on to a win! Koa enjoyed his blind date with Gaby--she is just nine weeks old and adorable! It's hard to remember when Koa was that little! Willie's mom was also visiting, so it was nice to see her as well. She held Koa and we got a great video of Koa doing "Grandpa lips" and cheesing it up when he sees the camera. We had never seen him do this with his lips until he cut his top tooth. We think his three little teeth feel funny to his lips!

Miami Weekend

Joey had a two week training with the Hillsborough County Dive Team in Miami. We really missed Daddy while he was gone. Thankfully, the training was over Veteran's Day weekend, so we were able to go. My awesome job share partner worked all day Friday for me so I could leave Thursday morning for Miami and stay until Sunday night. Koa did great on the 4 hour drive and we were able to hang out at the pool at Joey's hotel while he was at training. Over the weekend, we went to Key Biscayne and hiked a few trails. We were able to go up in an old lighthouse and check out a cool view. We enjoyed walking around different parts of Miami--Coconut Grove was a quaint little area where we found a cool bbq sports bar and enjoyed lunch. They had some stuffed animals that we used as props for Koa to take pictures with. Entertaining for us... After lunch, we walked through another piece of Miami history. This time it was Barnacle State Historic Site--the Birthplace of Miami. The Miami Man half Ironman was also that weekend and our friends Annie and Tricia from Kansas City were competing. It was so nice to see them and spend some time together. It was the first time Annie met Koa! After saying "bababababa" over and over for more than a week, Koa said "mom mom." Of course, I grabbed my phone and recorded "mom mom" and sent it to Joey.
