St. Anthony's Triathlon
The month of May started off bright and early with the St. Anthony's Triathlon that Joey had been training for. It was so nice to have his dad and Christine in town along with my family to help cheer him on! He finished in 2 hours 38 minutes. After the mile swim and on his way to transition, about ready for the long 26 mile bike ride, and a 6.2 mile run!
Congratulations, Joey! We are all so proud of you! So glad we had family in town to help cheer you on!
Koa Pics
Here are some pictures of Koa around the house. He loves eating and playing in the cupboard!
Naia Takes One for the Team
We love our dogs. Sometimes they annoy us. Sometimes they seem to be super needy. But, we love our dogs. They are super sweet to Koa. They are always ready to give kisses and show affection. And they are the best workout partners ever (as long as the temperature is below 75 degrees). I have gotten in the habbit of taking Koa in the jogging stroller and the dogs for long runs/walks in the mornings. Koa eats his breakfast and milk in the stroller and we knock out the workout before it gets too hot. Well, one particular morning, we came the the familiar crosswalk we cross all the time--it's one mile from our front door. It was our turn to cross the street and I paused to make sure this big SUV was going to stop. He came to a sudden stop past the white line before I started across. Since he was so close to the crosswalk, I could not see the car approaching on the other side of him. She did not stop before turning right on red and blew right through the crosswalk. Naia was out in front of all of us and got her paw run over. The lady slammed on her brakes at the same time and drug her paw over the street. We are so thankful her only injury was a scraped up paw that needed a couple stitches and staples. No broken bones. Koa never stopped eating his cheerios through the whole thing. Kimo was beside himself when I had Naia at the vet-- Katie had to reassure him a few times that she was coming home and would be okay! Once she got home, she did not eat for a few days and Kimo would not leave her side. He even gave up eating with her and would take food to her and drop it right next to her. It was heartbreaking. Needless to say, we are thankful everyone is okay and have learned to be SUPER cautious even when in crosswalks!
Beach Trip
Koa loves the beach. Each trip starts with an application of sunblock before we even leave the house. After the sunblock, we load up the shade tent, baby jail, beach toys, jogging stroller, cooler, and dry clothes. We really look like a traveling circus--all we need is an elephant to pull all of the gear from the car to the beach! Once we are all set up, Koa enjoys eating his sub sandwich and then playing at the waters edge for an hour or so before he is ready for nap. A walk in the stroller puts him out and he gets his nap on the beach while Mommy and Daddy relax! When he wakes up he is ready to play some more before we pack it up and head home. We are so thankful we have a baby who loves the beach as much as we do!! Koa has been taking a few steps at a time for a couple of months. At his birthday party he walked half way across the living room. This video from the beach is one of the first times he walked on camera!
Koa decided to wear his "invisible glasses" while we were at Cuban Breezes with our friend, Jasen and Carrie. He was "talking" a little on the loud side at the dinner table, so I put his sunglasses on him. He immediately became quiet and stayed that way the rest of dinner! Too bad that doesn't work every time we are out to eat!!

This is what happens when it takes too long to get the to go box...Joey becomes an artist!

Now that Koa is walking, we have been taking him to the park. He loves swinging and going down the slides. Here are a few pictures from one of our trips...
